48V All-in-one Solar Power Systems

There are a few 48V models and distributors to choose from, so this page will cover everything you need to know!
If you need 48V batteries to use with these all-in-one systems, click here

If you need a 48V complete system blueprint, click here

The models below are considered "offgrid use only".
If your system requires permits and inspection, check out my code compliant 48V system by clicking here.

Most Popular 48V Battery/120V AC Output Model: LV6548

Picture

Dead Simple Configuration:

I threw this LV6548 into my work trailer and connected 800W of solar panels to it. This took only 1 hour to wire up and works great:
Picture
My loads were pretty small for this system, so 10 gauge wire worked great. If you need a thicker gauge wire, use it! Same with the battery supply cables. Read the manual of the LV6548, and see what it recommends for the input and output terminals. Besides that, just stack the batteries up and connect them in parallel, and you are set!
This is my personal favorite when it comes to all in one systems:
  • 6500W 120V AC Output
  • 8000W 250V DC Solar Array Input! This is huge.
  • 120A 48V Battery Charger
  • 93%+ Efficiency! Very impressive considering the price!
  • Very reliable. I have put mega Watt hours through my units, and run them 24/7. You can also swap out parts and work on them easily.
  • Easy to use and program. Better display than many other models available.
  • Higher Input voltage than most models: 250VOC
  • Stackable. Power any load by using multiple units in parallel or series. Create 120V or 240V, and even 3 Phase!
  • Low Idle Consumption (given its output and price)
  • Wifi Connectivity for Remote Operation
  • Battery Communication
  • Large connection terminals and box with plenty of room to work inside. Other models are not as easy to install!
  • MC4 Adapters for solar input. This makes it easier and safer to install high voltage solar. Just plug the panels in and you are done.
This model has been sold out for months, and distributors usually max out their orders of this model because it is so popular. It is versatile and reliable, and a great all around unit.

My LV6548 System for 240V Output

This system outputs 13,000W at 240V and charges my Tesla and runs a 36,000BTU heat pump for my shop. Any excess energy is then pushed through a bitcoin miner. I love it! It runs 24/7

LV6548 on Steriods: EG4 6500EX

Now imagine taking the LV6548 and making it better:
  • It has double the PV input voltage, so you do not need a combiner box.
  • Battery communication that works out of the box. Just requires EG4 batteries (they have the cheapest ones on the market too. Check them out by clicking here)
  • And it looks cool! Much better looking than the boring white color scheme of the original LV6548

MPP Solar USA has been selling this model for years. They ship from an american warehouse and offer technical and warranty support. Unfortunately, they have been out of stock quite frequently, and other distributors are now selling this exact model (scroll below).

Sungold Power Inverters actually sells the exact same model as above for a cheaper price. They also handle technical support questions and warranty.

Even though their LV6548 is blue, it has the same components and firmware as the MPP USA model above. There is no difference besides the blue case.

Rich solar is a fantastic company to purchase from, but their price is just too high! But this model is out of stock so frequently from the distributors above, that Rich sells quite a lot of these units!

Same unit as above, but more expensive, and almost always in stock:

Beginner Friendly and Powerful!
48V Battery and 120/240V AC Output: LV6048

Picture
How I am using the LV6048 in my shop. I screwed the unit to the top of my Signature Solar Server Rack Battery, and ran some cables out to a solar array. It works great! And can charge an electric car with the 240V output that is built it. Easier setup than a LV6548!
Picture
The LV6048 is a fantastic model that is has some benefits over the LV6548:
  • 6000W AC Output
  • 8000W 150V DC PV Input
  • 60A 48V AC Battery Charger
  • 120V/240V output direct from each unit! If you want 240V from the LV6548, you need to put 2X in series. Not with this model. There are 4 terminals at the ac output, Hot 1, Hot 2, Neutral and Ground.
  • If you need more output, you can put multiple LV6048's in parallel. This model is easier to put in parallel than the 6548, especially for 240V.
  • Older interface is easy to program. The LV6548 has so many options and functions, it can be overwhelming. The LV6048 in comparison is great for beginners wishing to build a large and powerful system.
In most ways, it shares the same features as the LV6548, but it does have a downside. The PV input voltage is lower! So if you plan to use the LV6048, you probably need a combiner box to max out the PV input. This is an additional cost, and many people do not like the added step during installation.

New Release:
The EG4 G3000EHV-48

Picture
Picture
This is the latest 48V all-in-one to hit the market. This is the lightest and most powerful all-in-one for the size:
  • 3000W Continuous AC Output
  • Max input of 500VOC! This is higher than any of the competitors
  • Can handle a 5000W Array
  • Communication system works flawlessly with EG4 Batteries. Plug-n-play with lots of features. (you can find these batteries by clicking here)
  • You can Parallel up to 12 units: 12 Single Phase | 2 x 6 Split Phase | 3 x 4 Three Phase
  • Comes with Wifi module. This allows you to change the settings on the inverter with their app, and monitor your system remotely.
  • Large Surge Capacity: 5sec @ 150% Load & 10sec @ 110% - 150% Load
  • 18Lbs! Considering the output and features, this is the smallest unit on the market.

Because it is so new, I am still scoping out the reviews to see if anyone has any issues with it. I have tested all of the functions of the inverter, and the only thing I disliked was the Wifi app (spelling errors and took forever to connect), and the high idle consumption which is 66W. The LV6548 has twice the output capacity, and the idle consumption is only 70W. So keep this in mind if you plan to use multiple units in parallel. Be sure to offset the idle consumption with a few extra solar panels and batteries.

Signature solar is the only distributor of this model:

Growatt 3000TL LVM-ES

Picture
I have this model and it works well, but I have always preferred MPP models instead. I also think the EG4 (model above this one) is going to take over growatt sales now that it has been released.

The 3000TL does work well though, and I have never had any issues with it. I just think the interface and documentation with EG4/MPP is better than with growatt.

This model of growatt is designed for use with the north american grid. Do not buy the international version growatt models if you are in north america! Those models have a different ground/neutral designation than north american grid inverters. This has caused a lot of problems for people who do not understand the difference and purchase growatt inverters that are not labeled correctly.

I would consider the EG4 better in every way, but if you still want to check out this model, you can purchase it by clicking here
